Orange Euphoria
Orange Euphoria marks my first go at oil painting. I wanted to capture the feeling of being completely uninhibited and began brainstorming ways to mediate limitations caused by perfectionism in my artistic process. The idea was to introduce elements outside my control into my pieces, which I could either reshape or adapt the rest of the work around. I stretched watercolor paper over a canvas frame, then dipped it into oil paints marbled in water. I painted a figure I saw in the movement of the swirl and layered intricate paper cuttings into the portions of the pattern’s negative space I’d removed.
